Meeting up with EPITA and the IONIS education group at the Global Positive Forum, September 1, 2017

The first edition of the Global Positive Forum will be held at La Seine Musicale performing arts center on Friday, September 1, 2017 under the patronage of Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic. This event will bring together the major international players who, from astronaut Thomas Pesquet to Sigfox CEO Ludovic Le Moan, have been called upon to rapidly ensure the success of this positive revolution benefitting future generations. In addition to a wide range of speeches given on artistic, ecological, economic, political and even scientific subjects (see agenda), the forum will allow nearly 1,200 individuals to present their innovative vision and new initiatives. Several projects developed by the IONIS education group‘s students and alumni were chosen.

Tomorrow can be better than today.jpgHence, EPITA will be represented by four projects among those presented on the “grande rue” inside the La Seine Musicale center: start-up Estimeo, anti-pollution drone Quantifly (award winner at the iGEM 2016 competition) and two innovations developed in the school’s 3ie laboratory.

Estimeo: a good score for business angels
Co-founded by CTO Adrien Fenech (EPITA class of 2016), Estimeo provides ratings for startups as well as a platform that puts investors and entrepreneurs in contact. Click here to read the school’s article on Estimeo.

Quantifly: an interesting drone
An anti-pollution drone project that uses bacteria and was developed by the 2016 iGEM IONIS inter-school team including Paul-Louis Nech (EPITA class of 2016), Quantifly was presented at MIT in Boston during the last edition of the International Genetically Engineered Machine competition (iGEM), the largest student competition dedicated to synthetic biology. The Quantifly development team was awarded a gold medal.

Ephedra VR: an intelligent virtual game
Project developed by Software Development & Multimedia (SDM) majors at the IT Innovation Institute of EPITA (3ie), Ephedra VR is a serious virtual reality educational game for medical students. Users are immersed in an enjoyable and interactive virtual world where they can attend training courses adapted to their area of specialization.

Pepper: collaborating with the 3ie teams
For the past several months, Pepper, the famous humanoid robot by SoftBank Robotics, has become a real work colleague for the 3ie teams. A companion able to communicate thanks to an intuitive interface, Pepper has been at the heart of several projects conducted by laboratory researchers aiming to ensure that the robot possesses a certain autonomy allowing it to benefit major brands.
