VoR Immobilier, a new way of visiting apartments, created by four EPITA alumni
Founded in 2016 by Quentin Fapdepr, Thomas Colle, Sébastien Butler and Quentin Sanglier (EPITA class of 2013), VoR Immobilier offers virtual reality visits of new apartments, using a video game engine. CEO of this buoyant start-up, presented at the IONIS Education Group stand during the 2019 edition of Viva Technology, Quentin discusses how the company was created and developed.
How did VoR immobilier come into being?
We were four EPITA graduates fascinated by virtual reality and convinced that this new brand technology would revolutionize the uses and limitations of immersion. We felt that the new real estate sector could use this type of system, as it was technologically lagging behind. After studying video game engines, we chose Unreal Engine, and I have to say that we were right on target. Used for the famous game Fortnite, the Unreal Engine creators had just raised one billion euros. Our idea was to provide the new real estate sector with video game technologies, bringing high-impact, immersion sales tools. We offer different technological products, including 360° video that works on YouTube and virtual reality. As we are four computer engineers, we automate everything we do, which allows us to considerably reduce production time.
Who do you work with?
90% of our customers are real estate developers and communication agencies that market property assets. We work with Bouygues Immobilier, Nexity and especially Emerige, a high-end Parisian developer. Together, we have launched several large operations at MK2 VR, a space dedicated to virtual reality in the MK2 Bibliothèque cinema (13th district), where we drew in several hundreds of visitors who came to virtually discover the apartments.
How has your company developed?
We started out as four and now boast a dozen collaborators, including 3D modeling specialists and interior designers. Since the company was created, we have shown an annual growth rate of 100%, and our turnover this year is €600,000. Today, we are mainly focusing on improving our workflow and visit time.
What do you remember most about your years at EPITA?
VoR Immobilier would never have existed without the school. The 4 founders met during the 1st year and launched this business venture because we are well-aware of our strengths and our complementarity. We continue to use the technical skills we learned at EPITA daily, knowing that we all have greatly benefited from the education we received and the friendships we made during our studies. With hindsight, we realize that the school taught us to be very rigorous, which has enabled us to advance much more quickly.
