The young graduates celebrated the first step towards their professional engineering careers together with their friends and family, the IONIS education group management team, the school’s teaching staff as well as their class sponsor, Patrick Johnson, vice-president of R&D, Corporate Research & Science at Dassault Systèmes. An event that will remain etched in their memories for a very long time.

The atmosphere took on a festive note as the guests introduced themselves in front of the Palais des Congrès. Dressed to the nines in their gowns and scarves in the colors of EPITA, the graduating ceremony for the class of 2017 was held in the large auditorium, symbolizing their accomplishment after several years of hard work, sacrifice, discovery and hope. These accomplishments were emphasized by Marc Sellam, president and CEO of IONIS Education Group, in front of the crowd: “This ceremony is a major event for our students who will officially receive their diplomas. It is a powerful symbol of a cycle that has ended and a new chapter that is beginning in their lives, which we hope will be exciting, rewarding and forever educational.

The first round of applause gave way to the highly awaited speech by Joël Courtois, who made quite an entrance, while a surprising reinterpretation of the song Blues du Businessman was playing! Making a reference to a well-known quote from the equally famous Alan Turing (“Those who can imagine anything, can create the impossible“), the Managing Director of EPITA encouraged the students to become a source of innovation in the future: “We have helped you develop your creativity, now it is up to you to create the impossible!

After a speech given by Patrick Johnson (who spoke about how proud he is to be the sponsor of such a promising class), and a new round of applause, came the highlight of the ceremony: diplomas were handed out to the 280 young professionals of the class of 2017 who are ready to go out and conquer the world.

The opportunity came for EPITA to highlight the exceptional achievements of the thirteen valedictorians from each major: Sébastien Piat (SCI), François Bertet (CERES), Benoît Wafflard (GITM), Fantin Verpillot (SDM), Romain Biessy (CSAC), Nicolas Drouin (ISSE), Thomas Labadie (SNS), Sullivan Drouard (TCOM), Guillaume Laubier (Expert Cycle Apprenticeship), Gabriel Borel (Engineering Cycle Apprenticeship), Adriana Gabriela Santalla Santa Cruz (International Master – Software Engineering), Arina Zueva (International Master – Information Systems Management) and Marcelo Federico Ardiles (International Master – Computer Security).

The entire staff from EPITA and the IONIS Education Group once again wish the very best and a very bright future for these young engineers and experts!
