EPITA at the International Forum on Cybersecurity

The fifth edition of the International Forum on Cybersecurity (FIC) was held on January 28 and 29 in Lille. EPITA was represented by Joël Courtois, the school’s general manager, and by Marie Moin, in charge of legal education.

A meeting place

Organized on the initiative of the Nord-Pas-De-Calais Region, of the Gendarmerie Nationale and of the European Company for Strategic Intelligence (CEIS), the FIC brings together the major international actors of the fight against cybercrime. For five years, jurists, information system security managers, risk managers, political actors or managers in charge of digital education and training have been meeting at this “think forum”, which is unique in Europe.

Cybersecurity at the heart of EPITA’s challenges

Cybersecurity holds an important place at EPITA: the school’s System, Network and Security (SRS) major is at the heart of these issues. Every year, the school trains engineers who will respond directly to attacks by cybercriminals. In addition, the school dedicates a special day to IT security every year: the SRS Day. This meeting combines presentations of projects by cybersecurity students and conferences driven by leading companies and institutions in the sector. So EPITA has partners such as Thales, the French National Agency for the Sécurity of Information Systems, the French Ministry of Defence, Solucom, Morpho, Steria, Intrinsec, the French Central Agency for the Fight against Crime related to Information and CommunicationTechnologies or Signal SPAM. Finally, thanks to EPITA’s System and Security Laboratory, the school stays ahead in research on future IT risks.

For FIC 2013, Joël Courtois and Marie Moin were accompanied by Sébastien Bombal, in charge of the SRS major, who spoke during the conference on “Recruitment, education and training of cybersecurity professionals”.
