“IIT Roller” once more on the podium of the 24h of Le Mans

Another success for the student association “IIT Roller” of EPITA Graduate School of Computer Science!

The latter went up the podium for the “students” category, second time consecutively. For this entirely renovated team with students having not much training and racing experience, the challenge this year was to hold the second place obtained last year by final year EPITA students, who were fully trained. The 24 Hours of Le Mans is a full day relay race between teams of a dozen people on a loop of 4.2 km, the now legendary Bugatti circuit, same as that for motorcycles.24rollers_fond5-thumb-400x597-22811.jpg

The association’s team did a total of 147 circuits, i.e. 617 km. Team’s record was achieved by EPITA student Michael Pereira, association’s president, who completed the circuit in 7 minutes and 35 seconds, while the average runner took between 8 to 12 minutes. “We have obtained a good result, and we can be proud of it”, he declared. “The race this year, carried out under a blazing sun, was particularly demanding especially for the slowest riders – who were exposed to the sun for a longer time. See you next year for participating in a new race, and why not, go the last step that separates us from the top of the podium.”
