Fall RUSH
 Starting September 26, we will be hosting our week long orientation for our Fall 2011 cohort. We are eagerly expecting students from India, Egypt and Iran for a week mixing academic, administrative, linguistic and cultural activities on our Le Kremlin-Bicêtre Campus.

 To respond to the hot question "when are the vacations scheduled?", our team can only say that International Master students lead an academic that strongly resembles the professional world. If we have not scared everyone yet, Winter and Spring breaks are part of the program and occur respectfully in February and late April in addition to a short New year's break! (specific dates available during the semester). |

Arthur Bosquette, InfoSPE (2nd year out of the 5-year program) student at EPITA, has spent five months in Tampere, Finland, with the Erasmus program. He had a great time abroad...
 I joined EPITA two years ago and I'm now near the end of my second year. During the second semester of 2nd year, students have the possibility to go abroad for studying. Thus, a lot of different destinations are available such as Ireland, South Africa, etc, where universities have partnerships with EPITA. But EPITA also gives the possibility to go on an ERASMUS semester, with universities all around Europe.
After a lot of thought, I grabbed the opportunity and decided to apply for an ERASMUS semester, which I found a lot more attractive because only a few French students would be there and I would really improve my English by not speaking French. I applied for a semester in Finland, but why Finland? Because this was the most "exotic" country on the list, with habits totally different from what I'm used to in many aspects: way of living, climate, and mentality. But also because Tampere University of Technology is one of the most famous in Finland, with a great curriculum that offers global courses about management, information technology and programming.

A Fun Summer with EpiWORLD |

Over the summer, EPITA's International Student Association (EpiWORLD), celebrated the end of the school year in the well renowned Parc Astérix. Local EPITA students joined the outing for a day of fun rides amongst international friends in this uncommon attraction park honoring Gallic France! Be sure to try it on your next visit in France.

Cristal
 Cristal is an association composed of students from EPITA. It is a professional association, working in projects for various French companies (application development, web development, iPhone / Android, etc). It allows students to get practical experience during their studies. As an example, they took in charge the maintenance of the network during the 49th International Paris Air Show Le Bourget (very famous aeronautical exhibition in France).
Scribo
Scribo is a project in which one of EPITA research laboratories, the LRDE (Research and Development Laboratory) is involved. The participants from several laboratories work on tools permitting semi-automatic and collaborative annotation of digital documents. It is based on the analysis of text and images.

Tasty Smoothies
Time for vacation is over. Now it's time to go back to work! So we do need vitamins and colors! Let's make some smoothies! Smoothies are blended fruits with yoghourt and ice cubes. Here is an example of smoothie that you can make very easily:

• 1/2 large banana, cut into pieces and frozen
• 2 large fresh strawberries, rinsed and sliced
|
• 1/4 cup blueberries
• 1/2 cup milk
|
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 2 tablespoons vanilla yogurt
|
• 2 ice cubes
|
|
Directions
Place the banana pieces, strawberries, blueberries, milk, vanilla extract, yogurt, and ice cubes in a blender. Blend until smooth!
You can replace any of the fruit ingredients with your favorite ones. It is possible to replace yoghourt with ice cream and also to add cereals and muesli or get creative and try salty smoothies with green vegetables such as the tasty: green apples, broccoli and spinach.

Celebrations
In August, Muslims celebrated the Eid el-Fitr after a month of Ramadan, and Hindus celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi.
 Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim calendar called Hijri. It celebrates a central event: the Quran revelation to the Prophet Mohammed. This month is a month of fasting for Muslims. During 30 days, they don't eat and don't drink from dawn until sunset, except if it can affect their health, due to their age or to poor physical conditions.
Those days are devoted to spirituality, prayer, devotion to God (Allah) and generosity.
 The Muslim calendar is a lunar calendar, not solar. That is why there is a difference each year of eleven or twelve days in the Ramadan period.
The first day following the Ramadan is a day of celebration called Eid Al Fitr.
The celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi is also based on the lunar cycle. It is always between the end of August and the beginning of September. This year, it was on September 1st. It is followed by a festival during 11 days. It celebrates the birth of the God with an elephant head, Ganesha or Ganesh. He is revered for his ability to eliminate obstacles and bring good fortune.
During the celebration, people offer flowers, sweets, rice, coconuts and prays to the statue of Ganesh. At the end of the festival, Ganesh is immersed in water.
